ABOUT CURNEY MECHANICAL LTD.

Curney - A Welsh word meaning "To Keep Company".

Curney Mechanical Ltd. was incorporated in 1988 by a local pipeline welder Daniel McKinnon, and plumber Jeff Stanley. Both seasoned tradesmen have since retired but served to create an identity of being a reliable, competent company able to perform small to mid-size piping projects specializing in welding related boiler and chiller retrofits, as well as process piping jobs.

Within two years of incorporation, to grow the company, Jack Parker was added to the staff as an estimator. Jack brought with him twelve years as a licensed plumber and gas fitter, as well as estimating experience. Over the next two years, the company steadily grew to eight employees completing a plant expansion at London Hospital Linen, where they still perform maintenance work today.

In 1991, Jeff Stanley left the company to pursue an opportunity with a firm working on large projects in Alberta. Jack assumed the role of general manager eventually becoming became a partner and CEO of the company. In 1992, an opportunity presented itself to utilize Dan’s welding talents as the company successfully tendered and executed a large underground welded natural gas field outside of Woodstock. A pipeline division was created and for the next five years, this added workload to the ICI base helped to grow the company to 20 employees. In 1993, Curney Mechanical Ltd. purchased a new 6,000 square foot building where they are presently located today on Neptune Crescent in London. Additional growth to the present 40 employees is attributed to completing many projects in the ICI market such as school additions, renovations, new schools, hospital work, and process, steam and condensate piping projects. Working with various local general contractors and also acting as the prime contractor on many jobs, Curney Mechanical Ltd. completed projects at the University of Western, University Hospital, Victoria Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Thomas Elgin Hospitals and Fanshawe College. Curney continues to maintain a good working status with the local Thames Valley District School Board, Catholic School Board, University of Western, Fanshawe College and the local hospitals.

In 2009, Curney Mechanical Ltd. purchased Cleanburn Combustion, a locally based natural gas combustion service company successfully expanding its expertise in the natural gas service industry. Dan fully retired from the company in 2014, and Jack has maintained the role of CEO and has become president and owner.
